The Master Plan Department mainly engages in all kinds of planning and research for urban and rural areas, and be responsible to prepare and revise the master plan of Beijing urban construction, research, compile and revise all related special planning in city master plan; undertakes preparation of district ( county) planning, new town planning, the planning for townships and towns; undertakes the work for site selection and planning for the construction projects having big impact to city layout; undertakes compilation of zoning planning, the controllable detailed plan of key areas; undertakes the planning work for scenic spots, tourist spot and park landscaping for the urban, district and county; conduct the research on important topics in urban master plan. In recent years, the Master Plan Department has undertaken a great amount of work in planning and research. Serve as a main unit in compilation, the Office participated in Beijing Space Strategy Development Planning, the Master plan of Beijing City (2004 -2020), the Construction Planning in Recent Period (2004 -2008); and it’s now preparing the Coordination Plan of West- East China Development Zone, the new town plan of Shunyi and Yizhuang, the special planning of landscape system, urban and town development, fire-fighting, post and telecom. A great variety of planning achievements have won the Prize in excellent planning and design awarded by the Ministry of Construction and Beijing municipality.
