Urban Design Department is a new office established in our institute in 2001, its main work is focus on the planning and research of Beijing old town conservation, and planning and research in urban’s key areas and key sections.. The Urban Design Department has completed a great amount of work in planning, design and research and achieved a prominent achievement in less than two years. At present, it has conducted the work of conservation planning of Beijing old town, the conservation planning of Beijing royal city, Beijing CBD planning, the planning of Beijing underground space, etc, the research work for large-size and important planning projects. Especially in 2002, in the design contest of State Olympic Park planning, the design plan made chiefly by the Urban Design Department obtained the excellent scores of first in Grade Ⅱ. prize, and won honor for our institute.
